GUEST SKATING AT THE TORONTO SPEED SKATING CLUB
Guest skating is seen as a positive element of the sport and allows skaters from other clubs as well as our own skaters to develop in another environment. That said, first and foremost skating at the Toronto club is focused on Toronto skaters. To that end, the Toronto club has instituted a guest policy that tries to balance the needs of the community versus the needs of Toronto skaters.
There are a limited number of guest spots for any session based on total session capacity less the number of Toronto skaters enrolled in the specific session. If space exists on a session then members of other clubs may guest skate on a first-come, first-served basis with the following caveats:
- Guest skaters must contact the club by e-mail beforehand to register on a guest skating roster. Skaters should indicate dates and times they wish to skate. Please allow at least 48 hours for a response.
- The TSSC will respond to the skater and notify them if there is (or is not) space for them to participate.
- Simply showing up or showing up without a confirmation will not entitle you to skate.
- The request can be either for a single session or a series of sessions, although priority will be given to skaters registering for a series of sessions. Guest skaters are encouraged to register for September to December sessions and/or January to March sessions. Payment for a series of sessions must be paid in full before the series begins.
- Regardless of the single or series of session choice, guest skaters must pay for their session(s) before they will be allowed on the ice.
- Guest skaters must have the appropriate skills/ability to participate in a session. TSSC reserves the right to make any decision on skill/ability and redirect the skater to another session or ask the skater not to participate in any session.
- Guest skaters must participate in the program the coaches have planned for that session. Disruptions are not tolerated and can result in not being allowed to guest skate both for that session and for future sessions.
- Skaters must be registered with OSSA & SSC or another national body if the skater was from outside Canada.
