LEARN TO SPEED SKATE PROGRAM INFORMATION

We are pleased to announce that experienced speed skater and coach Mike Lamb will head up our Learn to Speed Skate Program again this year, assisted by Jared Boudreau and assistant coaches Bruce Perrault, Don Noble and Davida Rheingold.

The Learn to Speed Skate Program begins on Sunday, October 28, 2006, and runs every Sunday night for a total of 8 weeks of skating (7 weeks of lessons and one week of a meet). It finishes on Sunday, December 16, 2007.

The dates are October 28, November 4, 11, 25, December 2, 9 and 16. On Sunday, November 17, 2007, all persons in the Learn to Speed Skate Program can enter the Speed Skating Ontario sanctioned regional stream ability meet on Saturday, November 17th at Malvern Arena (Neilson and Sheppard in East Scarborough)

The skaters are on the ice for our first hour, Sunday nights, from 6 to 7 p.m. (Note: it takes about ten minutes to put out the mats and a few minutes for the Zamboni to finish so these are usually 50 minute hours).

The cost for the program is $205.00 for persons under 18 years of age, and $245.00 for adults. Please note that of this amount the Club is required to remit $70 for registration and insurance purposes to the Ontario Speed Skating Association.

If you join the Club as a Member after the Learn to Speed Skate program, the fee that you paid is deducted from the membership fee, and the skate rental remains free for the first year.

Skates are provided free for the 8 week period. You may keep the skates during these 8 weeks. However, we ask for a cheque, post-dated to December 16, 2007, for $200 as a damage deposit for the skates. The cheque which will be returned to you when the skates are handed back on the last day.

Please note there will be a second learn to speed skate program in February on the 4th, 11th, 18th and 25th. The fee will be less than for the 8 week program.
